About FatBat Puerh
We don’t just sell tea. We are Puerh Explorers, Academics and Curators.
This informs our entire approach, from showcasing boutique producers, curating major factory offerings, as well as end-to-end production of our own range of terroir-focused puerh.
If we don't enjoy drinking it, we will not offer it. This is critical in the world of puerh, where claims of gushu and big-name mountains abound.
We pride ourselves on transparency and unyielding commitment to quality. We also hold our partners to the same strict standards. Unceasingly questioning and challenging ourselves and them. Where doubt exists, we uncover it and decide if it is worth pursuing, or avoid the tea entirely.
We offer three distinct lines of puerh tea:
1. Boutique pressings from trusted small producers. Across our tea travels we meet individuals who make high quality tea from interesting areas.
2. Selected factory productions, strictly curated. These are the few commercial teas that we find interesting for collection and tasting.
3. Our own FatBat Puerh premium line - we are a Producer, not just a re-seller. This represents our ultimate vision of single origin, terroir-specific gushu puerh. Picked and processed end-to-end, by teams we identify/partner (we almost never buy maocha on open market or via distributors) with 100% traceability to precise micro-region / tea garden. This is an expensive way of working with low margins, but we believe the results are worth it.
Yixing Teaware
An essential part of gongfu cha is also the teaware. We offer a selection of Yixing Zisha teapots, representing select workshops or artists we have chosen to partner with. Every teapot is hand-selected by us physically in Yixing, we do not order in bulk remotely or from catalogs.
