The name of this pot may be translated as "Gourd-shaped Wine Vessel". This piece is one of several lightweight Duanni commissions that artist Wang Jie agreed to make for us on an experimental basis to explore the boundaries of this clay in a thin-walled, handmade format -- for now, only a single piece is available.
We are pleased with how this clay turned out -- after firing it has developed a beautiful textured and luminous "skin". The walls are thin (not often seen with Duanni) and the overall piece is light and well-balanced in the hand.
