Lancang Ancient Tea Company 2013 "Huang Ye (Wilderness)"
One of our favorite daily drinker raw cakes from this brand, this is 100% material from wild-growing older trees in Jingmai mountain.
While each production year varies slightly given the non-plantation source, the focus is on the strong florality (slightly different from the typical Jingmai "lan xiang" orchid aroma) and wild nature (ye qi). This is expressed as deep intense aromatics coupled with a strong bittersweet edge. The powerful aroma of wild florals is a highlight, lingering in the mouth cavity with richness and longevity.
Typical for most wild tea, aging has been quick and this has evolved into lovely honeyed wildflower and a rich dried apricot, smooth and full bodied. Very little to no astringency.
We especially like this in clay which brings out further sweetness and complexity. This tea has hit a sweet spot in terms of age and is fantastic value if you're looking for a tea to drink immediately.
