2018 Yiwu TongQingHe White Tea Dragon Pearls
FatBat Private Pressing Old Tree WHITE TEA
易武同庆河白茶 | 龙珠
A deeply layered white tea, rich with luxurious wood and dark floral notes, which has developed wonderful complexity with several years of aging. This white tea was produced from a 2018 late Spring mixed picking of medium and old trees in the State-protected Guoyoulin reserves of the TongQingHe area in Yiwu.
Typically offered as high end sheng puerh, TongQingHe material is known for being fairly intense relative to other Yiwu areas, and very "wild" tasting in nature. Processed into sun-dried white tea, this translates into deep layers of fragrant wood and dried pear, a full mouthfeel with a nuanced light muscado sugar sweetness that never overpowers the complex character of the tea. None of the superficial saccharine sweetness of lesser white teas here. Raw puerh lovers will find this equally interesting to drink.
We have been on a long search for a white tea that is sufficiently impressive to include in our own FatBat gushu line. We were presented this excellent material this Spring (2023) by one of our Yiwu farmers, who had been holding a small amount aging in his own inventory. We loved it and immediately secured the entire batch to be rolled into "dragon pearls". It is an excellent tea we are proud to make part of our permanent portfolio.
Each of these dragon pearls appears slightly irregular as they are rolled fully by hand, not machine pressed like many mass-produced versions.
~8g per pearl.
NOTE - THIS IS WHITE TEA, NOT PUERH
