Characteristic of this top Yiwu terroir, this tea boasts a strong character of deep rainforest wildness, with notes of dark green herbaceous sweetness and exotic florals. Early steeps are suggestive of damp mosses coating a fertile forest floor. A fruit-floral depth emerges in later steeps, sweet with an undertone of dark umami. The finish persists on the palate for hours, with a gentle but pervasive qi.
* For the Puerh we selected, we are confident for you to taste the full spectrum of its performance at 100 °C/ 212 °F.

FatBat Private Pressing Gushu Puerh
薄荷塘古树 2023
Bohetang is one of the most sought-after areas in Yiwu for good reason -- the tea gardens here are extremely remote, with access heavily restricted, preserving their perfect ecological conditions. This produces a tea with a distinctive taste profile – deep, herbaceous, and with a strong “wild character” (closing your eyes, you are transported deep into the exotic jungles).
We are proud to be able to press a small run of these cakes, as core Bohetang grove material does not yield high volume, and competition is very high. This is a pure picking of Grade 2 gushu.
This season's picking is some of the finest we have tasted from this vaunted region, possibly intensified by the dry weather. Typical of drought years, the tea is intensely rich and flavorful, with a pervasive sweetness that is unparalleled.
