2023 Bohetang Ancient Trees
FatBat Private Pressing Gushu Puerh
薄荷塘二类古树
Further details and write-up to come shortly.
Bohetang is one of the most expensive and sought-after areas in Yiwu for good reason -- the tea gardens here are extremely remote, with access heavily restricted, preserving their perfect ecological conditions along with the distinctive Bohetang taste profile. True Bohetang material, despite its high price, is still very hard to come by -- it is very quickly snapped up by collectors. We are proud to be able to press a limited run of these cakes.
This season's picking is some of the finest we have tasted from this vaunted region, possibly intensified by the dry weather. Typical of drought years, the tea is intensely rich and flavorful, with a pervasive sweetness that is unparalleled.
This is a pure picking of Grade 2 gushu. In our opinion, having sampled the Grade 1 this year also, the taste profile of this fantastic Grade 2 picking comes almost indistinguishably close to the Grade 1 trees, which go for 4x the market price and largely only pre-sold direct to top collectors.
