落水洞高杆古树 2024 春
Pure gushu Spring material from selected tall-pole trees, picked and processed by the Zhang family from their gardens in Luoshuidong, Yiwu region. Very small batch production from a single plot harvested in the last week of March, unblended. We enjoyed this tea very much, since the weather during the week was superb, ample sunshine, that can be tasted in the maocha.
The soup is thicker and more viscous than the typical lighter Luoshuidong examples. The fragrance is deeply embedded in the soup, expanding within the mouth and nasal cavities only after the swallow.
Crushed wildflower petals, smeared pollen, swirled in a green apple compote and wrapped up in a mild shiso-leaf tang. Gentle, conscientious brewing is essential to evoke the enduring sweetness that builds steadily through the mid-session. The huigan, though not immediate, envelopes the palate completely when it arrives, sudden and surprising. The qi is directly felt in the torso, energizing and mobile.
An expressive tea with big character, despite its underlying sweetness. This is a Luoshuidong tea that has changed our impression of this micro region.
