Changtai 2006 "Long Ma Rui Ming" (Dragon Horse) YIWU BLEND Raw Puerh
A classic Changtai series from 2006; we have selected to offer the red-wrapper version which is an Yiwu-region blend. (The brown wrapper version commonly seen is a Bangwai region blend).
Processing on this series is excellent, without the over-oxidation seen on some other Changtais of this period. As such, age has imparted the sought after rich smoothness of old school Yiwu blends without dampening the substantial power and persistence of this tea. This tea is very comforting to drink and a good showcase of Changtai's blending prowess.
TASTE PROFILE
Mellow plum sugar and yellow florals with a base of smooth polished hardwoods. After 16 years of aging, mild pleasant camphorous and herbal notes are already apparent on some steeps, especially if pushed harder, which add an interesting dimension to the standard aged Yiwu plum sweetness. Astringency is mild with a quick and short huigan, while a lovely fragrance persists in the mouth long after each sip. Comforting to sip slowly and savor during an unrushed, contemplative session.
Storage on this has been truly excellent, managing to achieve an elegant maturation yet with zero unpleasant storage notes.
