Liming 2006 "Light of Liming (黎明之光)" Raw Puerh
Light of Liming was launched in 2005 with substantial fanfare and marketing support from the Liming Tea Factory, as their benchmark-level, premium Bulang recipe. This was before the "gushu" and single origin market trends steered the market away from high-end blends. The attention this release generated was well deserved as it was a solid, powerful and complex blend with superb aging potential.
TASTE PROFILE
The 2006 continues the same recipe, and largely the quality is intact. Which is a good thing given the current market price for the 2006 is significantly lower than the 2005. While the 2005s we've tried have been smoother and more balanced, with slightly deeper floral texture and "ba qi", there is a price difference to consider.
If pressed, we will say the 2005 holds the edge, but the 2006 is a competitive daily-drinking aged Bulang especially if you like a more aggressive approach. Qi is present and warming but not overwhelming.
SOURCING
Our stock is entirely from super clean Kunming storage (note some Guangdong stored versions we've tried have not fared well).
[Note, wrappers on this series were extremely thin and fragile cotton paper, some have small tears or imperfections, this is normal.]
