Liming 2019 "Ba Jiao Ting Sheng Tuo" Raw Puerh
This is possibly the highest-value raw puerh in our collection and shows Xiaguan how to make a cheap-as-chips tuocha without the stomach-turning astringency, smoke and the need for 20 years of aging. Launched in 2019, this line was an intentional attempt by Liming to capture a share of the budget-tuo market (unofficially monopolized by Xiaguan).
Liming has processed this sheng fairly traditionally, preserving the classic Menghai character yet making it very drinkable young without sacrificing aging potential. This is textbook blending, showing the new generation gushu-loving naysayers what you can achieve in a traditional recipe.
TASTE PROFILE
As expected for its youth and Bulang origin, it is a feisty sheng with umami, but surprisingly sweet on entry with full on notes of juicy yellow peach and fizzy grape soda. Very simple, very delicious. Some mild astringency gives way quickly to a pleasant huigan with juiciness (shengjin). Cha Qi is energizing yet with the smoothness to compete with many more premium puerhs.
It's still too young to comment on aging with certainty, but we are optimistic and cellaring a bunch of these for the long haul as a nice counterpoint to the traditional Xiaguan powerhouse blends.
