Liming 2021 "Wan Gong Old Arbor (Qilin Series)" Raw Puerh
The most premium Wan Gong pressing from Liming Tea Factory, in a stunning wrapper.
For 2021, Liming launched two pressings from this famed Yiwu region of Wan Gong. This Qilin (Kirin, a mythical dragon-like creature) series is used to mark Liming's top-end productions from sought after regions (the others in the series are Xi Gui and Banzhang).
As befits the not inconsiderable price differential (this is approx. 3x the price of the standard 2021 Wan Gong cake), the material used is from older trees and significantly higher quality. Having tasted both extensively, we are confident to offer this cake only as it is more worthy of the "Old Arbor" label (within major factory production standards) and far better quality.
TASTE PROFILE
Wan Gong tea is known for its high sweetness (even for a Yiwu) and distinctive fragrance. The wet leaf boasts a pungent aroma of honey-laced tropical fruit and an undertone of herbaceous dark leafy greens. Liquor is light gold, entering the palate with deep pineapple sweetness, hay and florals. There is substantial lasting throat feel which hints at the quality of older tree material used here, and bodes well for further aging. The qi is penetrating and energizing. A suggestion of fresh grassiness remains due to its youth, but quickly gives way to a forceful huigan.
