Mengku Rongshi 2011 "Qiao Mu Wang" (Wild Arbor King) Raw Puerh
We are offering a batch of 2011 production Wild Arbor King from excellent storage conditions. This level of aging showcases the gentle evolution of this powerful blend after 10+ years. It is starting to display a pleasing finesse and richness, while retaining the characteristic punchiness of this blend.
This recipe won gold and silver awards in the 2006 Tea Expo and is also known to be one of the only remaining Mengku Rongshi productions post-2010 with completely traditional production techniques, resulting in old-school flavor and superb age-ability.
TASTE PROFILE
In comparison with the other Mengku Rongshi recipes like Ben Wei Da Cheng and Mu Shu Cha, the WAK is less focused on fruit and musk sweetness, but instead highlights the intense woody, leathery and untamed side of Lincang teas.
In keeping with its name, the sweetness here is of sharp wildflowers and foraged honey coming from the wild-growing trees, not of rock sugar and fruit like the other "Bingdao-style" blends. Punchy without veering into aggressive territory, this is a good example of traditionally processed tea benefitting from aging.
