Mengku Rongshi 2021 "Wild Arbor King" (Qiao Mu Wang) Raw Puerh
Massive brick version of this classic blend, ideal for long term aging (but is ready for drinking now!). Excellent value daily drinker.
Wild Arbor King is the bold counterpart to the brand's “Mu Shu Cha” series. Where the Mu Shu (Mother Tree) recipe evokes a purely smooth Bingdao sweetness, the more muscular WAK has a subtle core of woody bitterness running through and what the Chinese term “ba qi” (fierceness), that makes for excellent aging.
This recipe won a gold award in the 2006 Tea Expo and is also known to be one of the few remaining Mengku Rongshi productions with completely traditional production techniques, resulting in old-school flavor and superb age-ability.
TASTE PROFILE
This is an exceedingly fragrant tea, with surprising smoothness for its young age. Early steeps are intensely sweet, with the woody bitter core and a pleasant astringency only surfacing in mid to later steeps. Despite its reputation for intensity, this young Mengku tea is actually a supremely easy drinker already. Only when pushed hard do the sharp edges emerge. Age will bestow further texture, smoothness and complexity to the woody character.
[For customers who want a smaller amount, we will break up one brick and offer 200g chunks.]
