The teapot featured here is made by Wu Hongfang, who understands zisha clay like a bird plays with the wind.
We first met Wu in her studio 3 years ago, amazed by how she works wonders with her signature purple clay, Di Cao Qing and Tian Qing Ni, each piece retaining the glazed iron color and stone-textured finish. After talking about her work for 2 days with excitement, we went back and started the partnership.
This piece is a modern interpretation of a classic Qing-era shape, streamlined yet retaining the distinctive "cannon" spout. Versatile, it works especially well with young raw puerh, green tea, white tea and light oolongs.
Clay is Di Cao Qing Ni from mine No. 4 in Huanglong Shan. A patina of deep burgundy will be developed after a period of usage.
