Yang Tong Zhuni Teapot | Yixing Zisha
洋桶 - 朱泥手做 | 宜兴紫砂
Artist: Wang Jie
Clay: Zhuni from Xiao Mei Yao
Capacity: 95ml
Pour Time: 6s
Made in Dingshan, Yixing
Another small Zhu Ni creation from the hands of Wang Jie.
Craftsmanship is outstanding on this piece, with the lid fitting and rotating extremely smoothly with no excessive play, critical for retaining aroma on wide-mouthed designs like this. A unique design which not only looks interesting on the tea table, but is also very easy to use with a wide opening and straight sides to accommodate larger leaved teas, or rolled oolongs which unfurl in the pot.
Wang Jie's studio specializes almost exclusively in small Zhu Ni creations, all of which are flavor-neutral, quick-pouring and fantastic for use with strong oolongs (yancha/dancong), and high-grade raw puerh that do not need a flavor muting pot.
ABOUT THE CLAY
The clay is Zhuni from Xiao Mei Yao. We work with Wang Jie's studio, who is solely specialized in Zhuni tea-ware, with Zhuni sourcing only from two places: Zhao Zhuang and Xiao Mei Yao. A high-quality tea pot with Zhuni ore should give a bright metal sound when lid is picked up and touching the rim, an evidence of solid hand-made skill and the high-temperature firing result.
CARE OF YOUR ZISHA
1. To clean your new teapot, first rinse well inside and out with lukewarm water. Then fill with hot water just off the boil, steep for 30s and pour out. Repeat the hot water rinse 2-3 times as needed.
2. Brew your favorite tea!
3. After the session, empty the spent leaf and rinse out well with hot water. Dry the exterior gently with a soft cloth if needed to remove any stains that remain.
4. Air dry in a well-ventilated area with the lid removed.
Other Tips:
- Never use detergent or any other cleaning agent on Zisha!
- Our Zisha is top quality; boiling with tea leaves (or tofu) before use is not needed.
- Your teapot will develop a patina through regular use and care. Avoid pouring tea over the exterior of the pot to hasten the process, this will quickly result in a “dirty” looking pot.
