2016 Gao Li Gong Shan Single Trees #107 Raw Puerh
Private pressing from a Taiwanese producer, Shanghai stored.
This is a single trees (单珠) production, marked #107. Quantity is extremely limited.
This is the gushu version of the Gao Li Gong Shan wild maocha previously featured on our Instagram, from the Guoyoulin (protected forest) of the Gao Li Gong Mountains. We feel this tea is much more potent and has a more well-delineated flavor profile compared to its wild counterpart.
TERROIR
The Gao Li Gong Shan mountains sit in the Baoshan region of Yunnan, outside the more famous areas of Menghai, Lincang and Simao. Lack of visibility has its benefits: the ancient tea gardens here sit in a semi-wild, undeveloped state, largely agro-chemical free and are not over-picked compared with more famous areas where yields are pushed harder. The high altitude ecological environment is pure and unique, yielding a taste profile that is distinct from the other regions.
TASTE PROFILE
Very powerful cha qi and rich flavor with layers. Smooth on the palate but lasting throat feel (hou yun) with intensity. Floral sweetness coupled with bright tropical fruit but without acidity. Typically single-trees productions are slightly less complex, but focus on a few characteristics with intensity. This one is a very pure expression of what this under-represented tea region can offer, an exceptional tea we are proud to offer.
