2023 Autumn Gaoshan Gushu Loose Maocha

高山寨古树 2023 秋

Pure gushu Autumn material, picked and processed by Philip Lee’s family in Gaoshan Zhai, Yiwu region. As seen in the pictures, Gaoshan boasts excellent ecology and ancient tea groves which have never been cut down or stunted.

This year’s offering of Autumn Gushu tea from Gaoshan village is stupendously good, potentially a result of the ultra dry Spring season and resulting low yields earlier in the year. The Autumn material is uncharacteristically robust and rich, brimming with yellow stonefruit sweetness and a bright, wildflower vibrancy. A year in, the maocha has developed a beautiful, strong fragrance of fresh lychees!

Compared to the 2022 offering of the same tea, the 2023 has greater intensity and body, giving up some of the dark, soft florals for a brighter fresh honey tone.
