This is 100% pure Lao Ban Zhang gushu material, picked only from identified old arbor trees (select gushu picking, not mixed picking as is commonly done in LBZ). An opportunity to taste authentic LBZ gushu tea at a level typically reserved for wealthy collectors or made only by very select Chinese/Taiwanese/Korean producers at high cost.

Pressed as 100g mini cakes with 5 to a tong; we offer different sample sizes as well. Markup is lower than our average, on all formats.

A NOTE ON PROCESSING

Making authentic Lao Ban Zhang tea that lives up to its cost and name is not easy. Much of the material from LBZ village is offered by the farmers as finished maocha. We have found many of these picking and processing standards hard to accept, proven after tasting and rejecting many batches from different households. This is unsurprising when a tea pretty much pre-sells itself on name alone…there is little motivation to perfect the other aspects of processing! (Though this is individual opinion, we stand firmly by it especially when it is our own reputation and money involved).

We worked closely with our most trusted processing master Brother Sha, who led his own team into the LBZ gardens to pick the leaves, then returning to his facility in Menghai to process the material himself. This ensured complete control over the end-to-end process; we would not accept any less for tea of this value and reputation.
