FatBat Private Pressing Gushu Raw Puerh

We are proud to be one of the first to offer a pure gushu picking of this newly unearthed region. A top recommendation from our Spring 2023 lineup

True "forest tea" from the Guoyoulin Protected State Reserves of Mang Zhi tea mountain. Hong Mao Dan is less famous (and more affordable, for now) than the other big names in the greater Yiwu / 6 mountains region, only because it was discovered just a year or two ago by collectors, who are now starting to take note of the superb material coming out of these remote groves.
So what did the initial tasting demonstrate? This Hong Mao Dan tea holds its own in the dimensions of sweetness and texture/thickness. Much of the complexity were packed in the soup, expected to develop further during maturation.

Tasting Notes (updated 2026)

The wildness of this tea is evident from first sip, transporting you instantly beneath the towering forest canopy, creeping undergrowth and damp earth beneath your feet with the sharp, deep scent of unknown flowers and pungent wild honey assaulting your senses. Sweetness comes as an almost instant huigan.

Extremely remarkable is the cha qi in this tea, some of the most powerful we’ve experienced, with intensity and depth resulting from these rarely picked, untrimmed trees. The body feel is instant and deep, every single session, with a pervasive energy lingering for hours after.
